The
Madison County Emergency Communications Center is the main Public Safety
Answering Point (PSAP) for Madison County, NY.
With a population of approximately 90,000 residents, not to mention the countless commuters, tourists and travelers on the major highways that pass through Madison County, this center answers calls from anyone that has a medical, fire or police related emergency. Madison County 911 is staffed by eleven full time dispatchers and 5 part time dispatchers. The center is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our center has recently gone a complete overhaul. Thru grants made available from New York State the Madison County 911 Center has received new consoles, new radio console equipment and a new Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. These tools have made the jobs of the dispatchers easier and less cumbersome. Also, since April of 2005, the dispatchers of Madison County have been providing our callers who have medical emergencies with Emergency Medical Dispatching. These nationally accepted protocols, from the National Academy of Emergency Medical Dispatchers, are used to gain further information for responding EMS agencies. The dispatchers can also assist the lay person with performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and even the birth of a child. Our dispatchers are highly trained, professional individuals who give their all to the people who call for medical, fire or police related emergencies. |
